Free my Music
Radio and TV didn’t kill the entertainment business? Really? But what if the interwebs does?
Really.. I’m so sick of hearing about the music industry trying to stifle music on the internet. It makes me so happy when a successful business is run on the web:
- Amazon selling MP3′s for $.99 without any sort of DRM (Digital Rights Management)
- Radiohead realeasing In Rainbows , essentially for free on their website, getting 10+ million downloads, taking donations by “pay whatever you feel like” system, and winning a Grammy award in 2009 for Best Alternative Album.
- Pandora Internet Radio being allowed to re-negotiate unreasonable licensing fees paid to the recording industry, passed by the US House of Reps on September 30, 2008
- iTunes selling some DRM-Free tunes
Anything missing? Free media leads to creativity and free thinking. The more the recording industry tries to control musicians and media, the harder we’ll all rebel.
Here is a song I found on Pandora that I really like. I bought it from Amazon for just 99 Cents :)

Don’t you think that the rebellion itself leads to greater creativity and free thinking?
